How did you know you were crafty / artistic?
I think it's something that's really apparent from an early age. I couldn't give you a moment in time.
What was the first thing you ever made?
As an adult, rather than as a child / student the first thing I made was a knitted bag (I think)
Do you have any formal training or who taught you what you know?
I have a degree in architecture which gives you a really good grounding in design in general.
How did your craft business come about?
I found etsy!
Where and when do you do your crafting?
Not too much at the moment, I'm really enjoying the course I'm doing, I've paid for this so it has to take priority (I should be working on it now!) I've also just been employed by Folksy to look after their blog (please visit) and I also write blogging tips at Craft Blog UK and maintain a directory of bloggers. I have plans to develop into an all singing all dancing website soon as it's really growing very quickly. I still have a huge stash of fabric that I drool over occasionally and I have been commisioned to make another jewellery roll recently by a fellow folksy seller.
Tell me something surprising about yourself:
I can shear a sheep and have done on many occasions.
Which Folksy / Etsy shop can you not get enough of?
My favourite shops vary and I have masses that I love but I recently got given a bunny from Anna at The Warren and that is now most definitely my favourite shop. (she didn't bribe me with a bunny to say that!)
Why is handmade / crafting important to you?
It's a great way to get a kick, making something from scratch - the whole design process through to the finished piece and pat on the back from family, friends or buyers via feedback.
Is it just me or is crafting really hot right now?
There's definitely a surge in appreciation across the media but I think people have been happily making stuff for ever, they just never had twitter before.
Tell me why I should buy something from you!
You tell me why you shouldn't!?
Ok you’ve got me convinced! Where can I find you?
http://haptree.folksy.com is a good place to start.
