Folksy Friday :: Famous Birthdays 6th August

Alfred, Lord Tennyson
Hand Marbled Notebook A6 size by Books n Boxes
Poet Laureate during the reign of Queen Victoria, I studied The Charge of the Light Brigade many times at school and then at Uni.  He was a big fan of onomatopoeia, alliteration and assonance - try saying that 3 times fast!  Should he be alive today, Alf would be 201!

Sir Alexander Fleming
Desktop friendly bacteria by Haggis Home
Famous for discovering penicillin on account of being a bit of a minger.  I wonder what I've 'discovered' during my lifetime!?

Lucille Ball
Rubber Ducky Soaps by Lucy loves...
Star of I Love Lucy, The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour, The Lucy Show, Here's Lucy and Life With Lucy, actress and Pinup Girl Lucille Ball would have been 99 today

Robert Mitchum
Catching some Zzzzs pillowcase by Sixes and Sevens
Star of Film Noir and Westerns, Robert Mitchum was everyone's favourite 'Anti-Hero'.

Andy Warhol
Zombie Pop Art Horror Mug by Mugnifique!
Like, probably the most famous of the Pop Artists, in fact, leader of the Pop Art Movement?  You don't really need me to tell you anything about Andy Warhol now do you?

Barbara Windsor
3 English tarts by Treaclezoo
The first of today's Folksy Friday Celebs to be not dead.  Babs won't mind me illustrating her with pictures of tarts will she?  I've seen about 10 minutes of a Carry On film!  She's 73 today.

Michelle Yeoh
Embroidered ninja fabric notebook cover by fiona t.
Voted by rottentomatoes.com as the Greatest Action Heroine of all time, Michelle's pretty awesome (and also alive)!  She starred in Tomorrow Never Dies and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and does all of her own stunts.  She's 48 today.

Charles Ingram
It's all gone pear shaped brooch by Strawberry Anarchy
Famous for cheating on Who wants to be a Millionaire and then going on Big Brother or summink?  I'm a Celebrity...whatever.

M. Night Shyamalan
Discombobulated Bob Cat Plushie by Cute Designs
Director of very confusing but kinda good and some brilliant (but mostly confusing) films with twist endings.  He's 40 today.

Geri Halliwell
Marguerite Rag Doll by Maisy Muffin Rag Dolls
Ginger Spice herself is 38 today.

Melissa George
Imperfect Angel by Harriets Imaginations
Remember when she played Angel on Home and Away, who got married to Shane and then...did Shane die?  I fancied him, he was called Dieter Brummer... Anyhoo, Melissa George is quite a famous actress now, she was in Mulholland Drive and The Amityville Horror remake.

And you thought you were special
